Military Dating between different units and ranks?

Monday, November 23rd, 2009

I’m an e-2 in a retention unit not yet been to basic seeking to date an e-4 of a different unit. what are the regulations of dating between us?

As long as you are in different units, no one should care. However if you are ever in the same unit you can/will be charged with fraternization.

Edit: One…in the Navy E-4 is a NCO
E-4 = Petty Officer 3rd Class

  1. None
enlist can have relations with other enlist
    NCO’s with other NCO’s
    CO’s with CO’s

If you are in a relationship and either you or your partner is promoted to an authoritative rank ( ie the E-4 you seek becomes an E-5 ) and you are in the same unit you must report your relationship to your chain of command immediately.

  4. You might be able to do it, but if I where you, I would try to stay away from those situations. A lot of trouble.

  5. First off, what is a E-4 doing with brand new private?? Oh well, that’s "new"military mentality for you!

Anyway, when you get to your new unit, its frowned upon if you are in the same platoon. You can date other soldiers from other units. I wouldn’t suggest trying to date within your unit, because it causes too much drama, anything that went sour btw you and your significant other will be public knowledge, then up through the chain of command.
No matter what anyone says, its unspoken knowledge that NCO’s do judge the company and decisions you make.
