  1. because there are new strains of flu every year.

  2. it hasn’t been found yet and maybe enever will with rainforests being destroyed. Maybe the ONE plant that would cure one of these disease was destroyed long ago.

  3. Your question presupposes that medical advancements automatically mean cures for everything.

Viruses evolve. Each year the flu is different. The flu shot is a very effective method of preventing the flu.

As for HIV huge advances have been made. Anti-viral drugs mean that AIDS is no longer the death sentence it once was.

In terms of diabetes we have insulin which allows people who have diabetes to live longer more productive lives.

And finally swine flu is a virus formerly relegated to being transferred from pig to human. The human to human transfer is a new phenomenon due to the virus evolving.

  4. considering that when our nation was founded, there was no such thing as antibiotics, xrays, chemotherapy, antidepressants, MRI, CT, even sterile surgical practices…I’d say we’ve come a long way in a comparatively short period of time… but, you aren’t going to get instant gratification in a field that takes years to prepare for let alone function in. And that, basically is what you are demanding here, instant gratification…tsk tsk tsk
