Around what age do you think people should start dating and seeking a relationship?

Saturday, October 24th, 2009

Hi, I’m a high schooler. I know that high school relationships takes time and effort and would affect my concentration in my academics. But I’m also crazy for this one girl, who also likes me back. Furthermore, there are other complications such as disapproval of parents, her ex-boyfriend, etc that would interfere with us. Do you think early love is worth it? Or is early love mostly blind crushes that leads to nowhere? Please Advise =) .

I was in the same situation a couple of months ago ^ ^. She liked me, i started to like her, we dated for a couple of months, then she told me she wasn’t over her ex =(. To an extent, hight school love really is blind. You become caught up in the moment, making everything else seem to slip away. The only real reason why i tried (i’m 16 btw) was to gain AT LEAST some experience to not seem completely lost when i actually wanted to date seriously. Personally, i just say go for it, just don’t go in with the intention that things will last =). Well good luck and hope things work out for the best =P

  1. I say go for it. If you guys are into eachother, don’t hold back. It doesn’t matter at which age a person should start to date, as long as the person is ready. You sound smart enough to handle haveing a girlfriend and school at the same time. You sound ready

  3. As far as the original question- you should start dating at whatever age you think you’re ready or sometimes your religion could set an age restriction and trust me they’re usually right about dating age restrictions. You know it would be impossible for me to tell you if you just have a little "crush" or are actually in love. Only you can decide that but it could very well be either. As far as all those obstacles. You know if you really love her it will all work out. Nothing can stop a true love relationship.

  4. It all depends on your maturity, and this girls maturity.

I was ready to date at age 17- my current boyfriend waited to date until he was 21.

However, I do have friends that have still dated from age 14 and are STILL together.

Do you have your driver’s license yet? If you don’t- then I strongly suggest waiting until one of you does so that you can actually have a real relationship.
